BRIEF DESCRIPTION
DUBAI METRO/MIDDLE EAST TOURISM
The Dubai Metro is an automated metro rail network. Its concentration is more in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai. They are completely driver-less mode of transportation operated with Red Line and Green Line.The first two lines run underground in the city center while others, on elevated viaducts. It is the first urban train network in the Arabian Peninsula and it spans over 75 kilometers.
According to the Guinness World Records, this public transportation is the World's longest fully automated metro network ever. It carries about10 million passengers from September 2009 to 9 February 2010 and More than 110,000 people in its first two days of its existence.
It is an on going project. Work officially commenced on the metro on 21 March 2006 and 10 out of 29 metro stations of the red line were opened on 9 September 2009, so also the construction of 18 stations on the red line and another 18 on green lines.
They were restarted on 7 February 2010. Twenty nine of them on the Red Line were declared completed on 28 April 2010. Altogether, in 2010, about 29 stations were operate-able on the Red Line e.g. Emirates Station, Dubai Internet City, Airport Terminal 1 Station, etc.This state of art public transportation is one of the major tourist attractions to in the city.
