TOURISM AND DUBAI METRO
Tourism is a billion dollars industry. It is fast becoming one of the most popular global leisure activities in the world today. In 2010, it was reported that over 940 million international tourists noted worldwide. By definition, it is described by the World Tourism Organization as people "traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes" while some other school of thoughts sees it simply as traveling just for recreational, leisure or business purposes.

Whatever is the reason, Tourism is an important phenomenon now-a -day in the current economy, because it generates a lot of income in form of payment for goods and services available in the area, creation of Job opportunities for the tourist industries, transportation services, entertainment venues, marketing centers etc. amongst many others advantage.

In middle East, Dubai has becomes one of the most visited cities. It is an oil-rich global and trading hub of United Arab Emirates [UAE]. It lies directly within Arabian Desert in the south eastern part of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula. It covers about 497.1 square miles and the population according to 2009 Statistics is about 1,771,000 with 1,370,000 male and 401,000 female demographics. It shares borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast. Other areas of common borders are emirates of Ajman in the west and Ras Al Khaimah in the north. Persian Gulf is also in its western border. United Arab Emirate was formed by: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other 4 emirates in the region.

Historically, it is said to have been created in 1971 after the UK has left the region. It is the second-largest city in the region after Abu Dhabi. Though, both cities [Abu Dhabi and Dubai] have veto power over critical matters of national importance in the country's legislature. It was Dubai and emirate of Qatar that developed another form of monetary units in the region secondary to the discovery of oil and the subsequent boost in their economy in 1996. Almost half the populations of Dubai are Indians.

Climate wise, it has a very hot arid weather with an average high temperature of around 42 °C or 108 °F and overnight lows of 29 °C or 84 °F. It is a highly cosmopolitan society with a diverse and vibrant culture. The official religion is Islam. Despite this fact, it also has large Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Bahá'í, Buddhist and other religious communities.

It terms of economy, oil is the mainstay. But apart from this, tourism, financial services, real estate etc have contributed immensely to its economic development. Most of its tourism-facilitated facilities include: Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab [7 star luxury hotel], Variable transportation, Palm Jumeirah Monorail, Entertainments facilities, Sports, etc.
