BRIEF DESCRIPTION NEW YORK CITY/US TOURISM New York City, undoubtedly, is one of the largest cities in united state and the world in general. The population is larger than Philadelphia and it is about 8.2 million people. It was the initial capital of the United States in 1780s before being shifted to Philadelphia, then to Washington D.C and the first president of US, George Washington, was inaugurated in New York in 1789 at the site of Federal Hall. Federal Hall at 26 Wall Street was then the Capitol Building of the United States where the US Bill of Rights containing the first 10 amendments was passed. Historically, in 1626, the Dutch is said to have purchased Manhattan Island from the Lenape Native Americans for 60 guilders which will be around 1000 modern day dollars. And when conquered from the Dutch in 1664, its initial name, “New Amsterdam” was changed to “New York.” The population as of 1698, was about 4,937 people; but currently, it is one of the most advance and tourist cities of the world. As of 2011, New York City had 5,937 high-rise buildings, of which 550 completed structures were at least 100 meters high, both second in the world after Hong Kong with over 50 completed skyscrapers taller than 656 feet. It has five major borrows, namely: Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Manhattan is the most densely populated of all boroughs and it is divided into uptown, midtown and Lower Manhattan. Queens is said to be the largest of all the boroughs geographically, while Staten Island is said to be most suburban of all the five boroughs. In terms of tourism, New York City is one of the most visited places under the sun. Most of its tourist areas include: The iconic Statue of Liberty at Liberty Island/Hudson River, Empire State building, World trade Center, Brooklyn Bridge, Central pack, 42 street, Bronx zoo, amongst many others.
