BRIEF DESCRIPTION

WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL IN AUSTRALIA
The Woodford Folk Festival is an annual semi-rural music festival. It usually takes place over six days and nights from December 27 to 1st January every year. The venue is the semi-rural town of Woodford which is about 72 km north of Brisbane, Queensland in Australia.

The festival usually feature a multi-national wide range of performances including: about 2000 performers and 400 events with concerts, forums, street theater, writers' panels, dances, dialogue, debate, children's festival, arts, crafts, workshops, film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social, late night cabarets and other special events. The origin of the festival, according to some sources, is Maleny Folk Festival in Maleny in 1987; from where it eventually moved to Woodford and outgrows it [the Maleny Showgrounds].

The final evening, which is usually in the evening of the New Year's Day, is always closed with Fire Event or fire ceremony. The fire event was featured in the Global live TV in January 2000. It heralds the new millennium.

In 2005–2006 the aggregate record attendance of about 130,000 visitors attended. It has contributed about $21 million into the Queensland economy, according to some sources. The festival won the FasterLouder Festival Award for the most Green Friendly festival in 2008.
