Brief info about Thanksgiving day Celebration
Thanksgiving Day is an annual public holiday in Canada & United States. Historically, it celebrates the success & blessings of the previous years. Many believe it originates from the harvest feast shared by the English colonists[Plymouth Pilgrims] and Wampanoag people in1621. However, some historians believe the first Thanksgiving was celebrated in Florida, around1565 by Spaniards and local natives.
Thanksgiving, as it been celebrated today, according to some historians, stemmed from cultures and traditions of the Pilgrims and Puritans. Making it a celebration of two traditions. The New England custom of rejoicing after a successful harvest and the religious Puritan Thanksgiving, characterized by observance of feast and prayers.
Thanksgiving, generally, is celebration of: symbolism, legends, traditions, Turkey meals, Potatoes, Pumpkin pies, bread stuffing, cranberries stuffs amongst many others. One of the unique events of Thanks giving in New York is "Macys Thanksgiving Parade". Also known as "Thanksgiving parade".
